Thank god somebody finally said it. Fuck all these photographers, documentary film-makers, audio 'recordists', etc. Also: writers. You know, the last book I read was just a series of words I had seen before. Yawn.

I guess it goes without saying that Dance is the only True Art.

Haha. Awesome.

Dance is under-rated though.

Mr. Graham wrote:To those who did, thanks for checking that stuff out. Apparently about a dozen of you downloaded the mix (yeah, I checked -- why, what do YOU do on company time?). Appreciate your taking the time.

As for the great debate, I'm glad to see that the late entry by JC23by5 seems to have wrapped it up neatly. I had a feeling that zom-zom was just dicking around, but it's always nice to see that old "I was just kidding all those times & you guys took it seriously, but seriously I wasn't totally kidding, but it's nothing to do with me, you guys are just so worked up" caveat. Kudos!

I've also taken a crack at "Doris," but the first pass wasn't good enough to put out there. I'll be sure to keep you-all posted on the next batch, though! Hell, why should this thread be shorter than the one about how old people are, am I right?

Keep it real, homies,

Mr. Graham

I always find my favourite music seems to upset whole communities of people for some reason or another. People here often think they're the most advanced art/music consumers on the planet (or come off as if they think that). If your music upsets them, then it must be something awesome. I don't see why pissing people off is a bad hobby. Like Aphex Twin playing sandpaper on his turn tables live to clear the dance floor. Of course he's a prick for it, but some people are happy being pricks. :D

But I know/assume that's not what you're trying to do and I'm not saying you're a prick. I love Shellac, I love a lot of music constructed from cutting and pasting, I'll check it out now.

Sphincter: thanks! I hope you dig it. But please, don't expect awesomeness. As happy as I am with the results, I'm definitely aware that it's still rookie-level exploration.

Rayj: Sorry, no requests -- unless they coincide with whatever records I happen to have 2 copies of. Currently I have zero Whitehouse vinyl. I do have 2xCars first album & 2xCareless Whisper singles, though.

Steve V.: Glad you liked that Avalanches album!

True. But I didn't know he was such a troll! Wow. It's like he's never seen them internets before. Jesus. Today he must have mixed up internets and beers!

I feel like a doofus for falling for this troll crap.

Like I said, I got love for you Gerard, but fuck - set the Way Back machine to 1992! Let's make people angry over the interweb!

And this thread has been Slinted and Cocorosied. Just for good measure - HITLER!

it's funny cuz everyone's all ZOM ZOM GET WITH THE TIMES OLD MAN, but every single reference to a turntable or hip hop artist on this thread is like 10-15 years old!

anyway zom you never fail to crack me up.

i love rap. the joell ortiz mixtape is the shit, same w/the new royce the 5-9 and prodigy shit.

whuzzy whuzzy whuzzzy wacka wacka - it might not be music but i like how it sounds.

I wasn't swiping at zom's age. I'm no spring chicken. I'm swiping at the 1992 troll mentality he seems to wield. It's kinda to a point where I think he likes being rude for the simple pleasure it brings him. Big deal really, right? Maude was out-spoken, and to a point rude, but she was the cat's meow of 70's sit-coms. Geraldine was hot as a pistol, and that nice colored man let her on his show regardless of her bad attitude. They sure did look alike - Geraldine and Mr. Wilson. I'm not saying they all look alike, just Geraldine and Mr Wilson. She had spunk, huh?

I simply like to excercise my right to express my opinion on Internet Message Board subjects for entertainment purposes.

I am far from being an Angry Guy. Opinionated, sure.

Zom-Zom is no troll. He is a curmudgeon. Kind of like Andy Rooney.

Blockhead's latest release starts out on the first track with sampled drums that sound like they were recorded by Steve. I wasn't blown away by this record myself so much, but I thought it was relevant.

As far as the whole "that's not music debate" -- if you take a lot of records and mix them together the way DJ Shadow did on Endtroducing, or the way Kid Koala does, call it whatever you want, it sounds cool to me. When an artist does a collage, it turns into a new piece of art. Same thing if you take thousands of samples and mix them together. Straight up scratching gets a little boring for me, but if there are enough layers and changes to keep my attention there's a chance I'll be turning it up.
