It's definitely my favorite album of this year. Powerful music that's just as great as I had hoped.
I was disappointed to hear that the Melvins cancelled the rest of their tour dates for 2004, but I'm looking forward to the shows they'll put on in '05.
Jello Biafra-Melvins-Never Breathe What You Cant See
12Ive just been calling this record "The Jelvins" its definitly great. I got the chance to see them in Cleveland in september with jello it was an intense show! Third time I've seen the melvins.

13The cleveland show was my second time seeing them. Where in the audience were you? I was right in the front with one leg on the stage practically the whole time so as not to lose my balance from everyones pushing and gayity. I got trampled on by Jello Biafra during the dead kennedys songs

14do you guys remember shit sandwich from the melvins? what a bunch of crap that was. the humor was there, not the music, and i dont think that anyone took a bite of the aforementioned 'shit sandwich', although it was called shit sandwich.....and you just took a bite. but who cares, what a stupid idea and fight and album title, i never thought the melvins to be the funniest bunch of guys, but they have good music. whatever.

I'm gonna go with (b). Considering that Jello is the same to guy that came up with such genius phrases as "Let's Lynch The Landlord", "California Uber Alles", and "Kill The Poor" just to name a few. Anyway, I think it's a great album title. Remember this is a guy, who when running for mayor in 1979, actually vacuumed the sidewalks in front of Mayor Feinstein's house as part of his " Cleaning Up" campaign.
Dragon, in the context of Biafra's early work I would be inclined to agree with you. However, (from what I've heard from him live/on recent spoken word) his position seems to be shifting over the years from general poker of fun to (relatively) serious political activist with a manifest agenda (and not the kind which includes making businessmen wear clownsuits). I have also noticed a correlating shift in his tone from the ironic and weirdly ambiguous to the straight-forward and accessible (a new tone that, though clearly politically expedient, does seem to me to condescend the audience that were initially attracted to him by his oblique take on things). So, I think that (due, speculatively, to either blinding idealistic fervour or incipient senility, or perhaps both) the answer is (a).
I realise two things as it approaches 1am and the mountain of real work I have to get done looms ever larger:
(a) All this amounts to convoluted nitpicking and maybe I should actually give the album a listen before I pontificate any further on the title issue.
(b) I need to cut down on my use of parentheses.
Or is that three things?
"You Humans make a brave noise."

17Am I missing something here? The vocalist on this record is most definately Jello Biafra, but the backing band is certainly not the Melvins. Actually, it sounds a hell of a lot like White Zombie. The slick ProTools-ed production doesn't do a whole hell of a lot for me either.
I don't know man, I just couldn't get into this record. I can't wait to see what coach says about this.

18I BELIEVE I heard a song from this record on the radio this morning..Someone with a voice like Jello singing a christmas carol or something...you better watch out, for goodness sake or some crap... over a better than average guitar riff.... and I have to give it a CRAP. .
but, I heard a recording of a recent political speech Jello gave and he seems like a good politician ... if that is a redeemable quaility.. ( i know nothing of politics)
i guess he rocks harder than other "punk-rock singer" politicians, if there are any? Maybe he can rock the vote or something....insert joke here....
