film: john carpenter s the thing
2One of the few horror movies that genuinely creep me out, nearly every time. Something about the scene where they're testing the first batch of blood with the wire, and ... gah. Good stuff.

3I love this movie. The scene where the Thing is in the pen with the dogs and turns into a big plant-looking deal stands out as really creepy, and the scene where the guy's head drips off his body and grows spider legs terrified me when I was a kid.
NOT CRAP.
What happened to John Carpenter? I think the last decent movie he did was In the Mouth of Madness

5Very good movie. Very bleak and very scary. One of the things that makes it so good is that the fear is comes just as much from character developement (actually, moreso) as it does from the scary ass monster.
Also, you have to love the scalpel and needle shots.
And that scene where Blair is talking about how he's ok and just wants to come back inside, sitting down next to a noose, is pretty messed up.

the original 1950's movie is the best, in my opinion, but the remake was just as good
