What the fuck is going on in Pakistan?

I wish that's all it meant. But if the country did, against all odds, actually become a fundamentalist Islamic state and they had the key to the arsenal, how long do you think it would take before one of those nukes found its way to a shipping container? Reprisal would mean little to them.

I like to comfort myself by believing as long as there are wealthy people living there, they won't want to be killed.

those in positions of power only use religion to coalesce power around them. They are entirely invested in living.

Muslims do have a strong preference between life and death, and it's not in favor of death. They are not insane. Reprisal would not be welcomed by them. The myth of fundamentalist Islam as a suicidal death cult is promoted by Western media, because when Western media need to inflate a menace beyond their capabilities ( to cast them as their opponents in a fake war on terror ), it helps if you turn them into fanatics. That helps to cover up the fact that they're pissed off at the West for the same reasons as many others: theft of their resources, overthrow of their leaders, bombing and killing. If you can paint them as inwardly driven by some suicidal ideology, it deflects attention away from their legitimate complaints.

The #1 reason why Muslims are willing to die in attacks against the West is because the US and Israel have all the high tech weaponry and they don't. They are fighting a kamikaze guerilla war because they have no other useful strategies.

to cb,

pakistan is a particularly strange state. consider it a bigger iraq, perhaps even more complicated.

In this region, there is no sunni v. shiite conflict. it's all sunnis and they have a greater allegiance to their tribal affiliations, than to islam.

the whole rise of islam in pakistan is because of the usa imposing sanctions over the development of nuclear weapons. our supposed allies saudi arabia came to the rescue and began funneling money to the ISI who used it to fund the madrassas. many feel that this was their way to deal with our occupation and lying about saddam threatening them with invasion.

remember, al qaeda was originally in our pocket. saudis and ISI took them from us.

The suicide / kamakaze thing is funny because here in the USA we usually present ours with a medal of honor.

Perhaps the muslims need to hire a good marketing agency.

"we're not suicide bombers, but freedom fighters!"

weapons of propaganda are for use against their own citizens.

I don't think I would say 'took them' from us. More like provided a buffer in the command structure- more plausible deniability.

Yeah, the suggestion that they choose suicide bombing because they love to die is just ridiculous- if they could fly over the heads of their enemies in stealth bombers aand push buttons to kill them, they would fight wars just like Christians and Zionists. Muslims like to grow old with their children and grandchildren just like we do, here on earth. They don't crave the afterlife. People who would rather be gone from Earth don't build beautiful mosques here on Earth. It's when you throw Western aggression into the mix that the dynamic changes.

I didn't notice any beautiful mosques built by the Taliban.

We're not talking about mainstream Muslims or even particularly conservative Muslims. It's pretty obvious by now that the madrassas that have turned out the most zealous jihadists have no problem encouraging them to be martyrs.

I'm under no delusions that your average Muslim can't wait to die in the name of his or her religion. That's obviously and patently absurd.

muslims = christians = jews

they all worship the same god, love to beat up on women and gang up on the weak. they all have the same value system. why they hate each other, I do not know, but perhaps it has something to do with whether or not they have fully integrated into global capitalism (the true religion of the world) which is what think is the real issue.

if you want to see a christian version, go drive thru kansas with one of those evolving fish on your car.

The Taliban is another outgrowth of Wahhabi Islam. They want strict adherence to Shariah. They do not want war with the west or to force conversion of the west to Islam. They want to overthrow psuedo-Wahhabi puppet regimes of the West. In regards to Pakistan, madlee was partially wrong here:

There is conflict between sunni and shi'a, and between sunni sects.
daily times of pakistan, 5-14-07 wrote:Sectarian conflict looms over Pakistan, says study

WASHINGTON: Sectarian violence marked by the Shia-Sunni conflict threatens to engulf Pakistan as the current century gets underway, predicts a new study released here last week.

The study, the first of its kind, was completed by Khaled Ahmed, contributing editor at Daily Times, who conducted his research during the last nine months as a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Centre here. Entitled “Sectarian War: Pakistan’s Sunni-Shia Violence and its links to the Middle East”, Ahmed notes that tens of thousands of lives have been lost in Pakistan’s sectarian war in the last two decades of the 20th century. The mayhem continues into the 21st century. He recalls that a very tolerable level of Sunni-Shia tension was inherited by Pakistan from British Raj, and it was not until after 1980 that the two sects squared off violently. Like all internecine conflicts, the war of the sects has been characterised by extreme cruelty, he notes. It coincided with the onset of the Islamic Revolution of Imam Khomeini in Iran and the threat its “export” posed to Saudi Arabia and other Arab states across the Gulf.

The madrassahs turned out Jihadists for the Taliban, to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan for the imperialists, true, but just because there is plenty of Taliban sympathy inside Pakistan, that doesn't mean that there is a death wish inside the majority of Pakistanis that involves suicidal attacks on imperialist interests in non-Muslim countries. If there is a desire to have an anti-imperialist government that adheres to Shariah within their borders, that seems okay by me, but since that land is so valuable to the plan to extract the resources from the Caspian Sea region, I'm sure that we will manufacture a terrorist case against any Pakistani leaders who do not play ball with the NWO in that regard.
