The record was mastered by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road. Both the CD and LP version of Excellent Italian Greyhound come packaged in a beautiful full-color gatefold sleeve. The LP version also includes an OBI or slipcover that was drawn and hand-silk-screened by Jay Ryan. The CD also has the OBI, however it is not hand-screened. Audio quality is paramount, as always, with Shellac. The LP was mastered entirely in the analog domain, using the DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) process. The pressings are 180 gram audiophile quality. This is Shellac's longest record. All the songs are about Italy or Greyhounds. LP includes free CD copy.

I was browsing another forum, and there was a thread dedicated to the new shellac record, that has just leaked on soulseek. I'm unable to download from soulseek on this computer, but I'm guessing the band is Technician, and the culprit is a PRF member.

I give to you, comments on the new shellac record:

spoke is catchy as fuck with a creepy guitar line that sits tonally between slint and Mogwai's 'my father the king.'

listening now... 'be prepared' is fantastic. very slinty

actually... 4 or 5 listens now and this is living up to what I had hoped. Epic and spacious guit/bass interplay on 'genuine lullabelle' only dipping to formula toward the end.. Steve sounds somewhat mellowed on some tracks.. or his voice doesn't have that really raw raspiness you would expect.

I'm predicting this thing to be another excuse to stomp around the loungeroom with my closest friends

spot on dude. it burns along quite steadily and deliberately. less of that bombastic craziness. feels very different to me.

haha fuck this rules.

slaying!!

why does Albini sound so different?

this leak is BOGUS

listen to the songwriting and lyrics! its shellac you idiots!

having said that, the 'spoke' i remember from live bootlegs was this short, sharp screamy thing, not a 7 minute epic.
