Yeah, I titled the thread after that statement at the end of the clip, for purposes of irony.

In that movie, it looks to me like the Marines were doing all the shooting, but near the end of the clip, one of them says something about a sniper round hitting nearby. I don't know if the guys who drove up in the cars were armed insurgents, but they were gunned down without any attempt to verify their identity. It's really impossible to say exactly what happened there without some background information, but it sure does look bad.

Especially the part at the end where they're laughing maniacally, whooping and celebrating having just killed a bunch of civilians.

"Lookit, dude, we fucked those people all to shit down there!"

it's very strange indeed.......... the celebration as well.............. an acquaintance of mine, and friend/soccer teammate of my homie's, was in iraq........... he had 33 confirmed kills................ you wouldn't think to look at this guy that he is a marine; he looks like someone any of us could hang out with-- not particularly tall, not particularly buff, not all machismo, loves his girlfriend, into some cool stuff.............. then he talks nonchalantly about the time one of his guy's made his first kill and how afterwards they took him out for brewskys, as if the guy popped his cherry....................... i guess that camaraderie and celebration is necessary for them to move on from that sort of thing........... to do their job............ and it is hard to look at this guy as a killer, even though he is........... almost bizarre. he basically says they were all justified, and i'm not really in the position to say otherwise........... but it does make you wonder what happens in his dreams............

it's tough to judge these situations....... just makes you feel sad about the whole darn thing.

I dunno… I don’t think so. I think it’s easy to judge that situation as repulsive and sickening.

The whole darn thing doesn’t make me feel sad exactly, more like, it makes me want to quit this fucking planet out of the sheer heart wrenching shame of being human… what a twisted bunch of sick fucks we are...but I think I know what you meant.

Maybe some "Home Porn i" will help.

BadComrade wrote:Hell, the US Army even has a free video game called "America's Army" that you can download, which is nothing more than a combat simulator. You even have to go through basic training and take a shit load of tests if you want to unlock all of the features to play the game. You have to learn the silhouettes of American and non-American tanks / planes, etc... learn about how to treat a wounded soldier, etc. and then you're tested on all of it. What a great way to recruit the "video game generation".

America's Army is a pretty shitty game compared with commercial titles like Call Of Duty and Medal of Honor. Then again, America's Army is free, and poor kids who can't afford $60+ per title for games are just the demographic the US Army loves to market towards.

I occasionally send metal / hardcore CDs that people in Iraq have ordered from me online, and I imagine that's why they've decided they need a System of a Down CD in Iraq.

I remember reading in a magazine (Esquire, I believe) that during the first Gulf War, the #1 most popular album in the 3rd Armored Division was Seasons In The Abyss by Slayer.
