Yes, yes, I know the dozens of arguments against the whole affair, and I haven't the urge to dispute any of them. Reunions are mercenary, overpriced, opportunistic, cynical, etc etc etc. But it was still pretty neat.
Seeing as how I was 12 when they broke up, I never saw them live (obviously) and therefore allowed myself this guilty pleasure.
In closing, Dear Mr. Black; please consume fewer things that are fried. You are obese and the reunion tour would be truncated by your death. Also, I don't know who the opening band was but they made me wish that a comet would hit the planet and wipe out humanity.
Thanks,
Ed
So I m not going to lie, the saturday Pixies show was neat.

3Ill be seeing them on this thanksgiving in toronto at the aero hall. The ticket was way too expensive but I bought it anyway for the same reason you did. If the show ends up being bad I will personally get on stage and beat the living shit out of frank, then steal his wallet

4I got 2 free tickets to see them from a friend at a label..

5While I tend to stridently avoid forms of entertainment costing in excess of $10, I strongly suspected in this situation that when I'm old and gray I will probably remember the concert and not the $30 I threw away on it.

6I went to the Sunday show because a friend had extra tickets. I had very low expectations and thought it was probably going to suck. It didn't. It didn't exactly blow my socks off, but it didn't suck and I'm glad I went.

7So who's the opening act? I want more humanity-threatening comets.

8I saw them last night and really enjoyed it. They are one of my favorite bands and I finally had a chance to see them perform so many of my favorite songs. If you are a fan, you deserve to go see them.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

9I'm surprised how little kill-yr-idols talk I've heard about these Pixies reunion shows. They're charging an obscene amount of money for these shows; there's this indie-rock-pioneers-who-started-it-all talk going on that makes no sense to me; and now I hear that last night's encore was Gigantic - which they had already played!
I can certainly understand the desire to make stacks and stacks of money off of your earlier success. But come on, folks! $30 a ticket? More? What the fuck? Yet people still seem to hold this band, and these shows they're playing, in extremely high regard. Sure, they put out some good records; but that was long ago. Maybe they're having fun playing the old hits, and good for them if they are; but at this point they're basically playing Vegas. Please, people: show a little disrespect!

10i saw the saturday show. the aragon could not sound any worse if the venue owners spent 2,000,000 dollars trying. it is just gross in there.
otherwise, when i was able to discern the music from the strange high pitch screeching sound coming from the back near the roof, i liked it a lot. i did get to see the pixies once years ago, this weekend's show did not compare.
the strangest thing tho: the amount of tickets being sold or given away for these shows. i had 2 extras (which went unsold) and there were about 20 other people trying to sell tickets. all trying to sell for face value. then i got asked to go on sunday, and again on monday. strange. strange.
