any ideas?
there are several devices that will not like e.u. cycles per second..
surely there is a d.i.y. solution?
i am looking into making an u.p.s...perhaps i could incorporate the frequency converter?
perhaps a cheap..>100euro converter?
oh please let me know
thanks

2Can you make your question more clear?
It's sounds like what you might be looking for is mains filtering, but I'm not sure. Mains has to sit at 50Hz or 60Hz AC as your equipment is designed so.

3now i'm confused..
how does electricty sit?
help me Rodabod~!
to clarify..
several pieces of my kit from the states say that they require(sp?) 60hz..
that's it..
i need to make a few pieces (monitors/Ad/Da convertors) see 60 instead of 50hz..
tell me something cheap..(please?)

4Oh, I see....
Can you give an example?
I'm doubtful much 60Hz gear will care if they are fed 50Hz. It's the voltage that's the problem.

5Event Asp8's
Lynx Aurora16...
apparently..certain transformers, given voltage at 50cycles vs 60cycles gives more amps?
more hot power..more hot...more chance of breakdown..?
any ideas?
thanks again Rodabod..you're a hero..no shit

This wouldn't make any difference with standard transformers, but I'm wondering if it might make a difference if the supply is a switched-mode type.
Actually, I don't think it would make a difference since the AC is regulated to DC before the clever stuff happens.
Who told you that 50Hz would be a problem? I'm still doubtful.

7Like rodaboad, I don't think that 50hz and 60hz is the problem. Most equipment says 50-60hz 110volts or 50-60hz 220 volts.
also, try to think of it from the manufacturer side, I really don't know of any frequency converter, and I doubt any manufacturer will design it's product to fit only one mains frequency.
The only problem I can think of, is that the PSU might have hard time making a DC out of a 50hz mains while it usually needs a 60hz mains. It'll be less "straight" than the usual. but really, Im not sure that would be the case.

8ok...i'm bumpling
with pictures..
any ideas?
you would think it wouldn't be soo fucking hard to convert mains frequency..

9Call the company and ask how to convert the unit to the 220/240 Volt, 50/60 Hz option. It might show how in the manual if you have that. Don't worry about the frequency. Most, if not all power transformers will work at 50 and 60Hz.

have you noticed how elegant you look in this photo..
kind-of mysterious.
that said..
the 50hz is the only thing i am worrying about..
i'm glad you could relieve my fears.
it seems the ad/da will run fine on 50hz..
now i just need to hear from the monitor manufacturer.
thanks again...
