My girlfriend really wanted to see the Pixies. She was about 12 too when they broke up. I had two reservations. One, it was a reunion show and could really suck. Two, if they didn't suck, there was no getting around the fact that the Aragon sucked. So we decided to not to shell out the $100 bucks to see them, but i could tell my girlfriend really wanted to go. So I suprised her with tickets on her birthday to see them in Minneapolis (i've got family up there so it was worth the trip just for that reason alone).

I've got to say I was impressed. The sound at the venue up there blew the aragon away and i thought the pixies put on a very entertaining show. I'm guessing that they didn't play gigantic twice in Chicago. In MN, the encore consisted of the fast version of Wave of Mutilation (they played the slower version at the beginning of the show). I don't know, i didn't really have a problem with that.

I saw the Pixies the first time around and, though I really liked them as a band, I found their live set to be boring. They played the songs in alphabetical order, stood about like statues, and we were not allowed to take alcohol into the stage area. Fuck off.

I recently stood around at an outdoor show in the Texas heat, suffering Dashboard Confessional so that I could actually see the Pixies on their recent reunion jaunt. I had paid about $50 for the whole three-day festival. The Pixies were, in my opinion, great. No more entertaining than in the late 80s, only a slightly expanded repertoire. They were fucking great. I could not get any beer this time, either, as moving away from the stage was a major undertaking. Still, no complaints.

I recommend seeing them if you are a fan and have the chance.

My brother offered to fly me to NY and put a Sex Pistols ticket in my hand on the first "Filthy Lucre" tour. Out of some misplaced notion of "integrity," I declined -- and have been kicking myself ever since.

Sure, the Pistols (or the Pixies) might have sucked, but as it turns out, they did not. Even if they had sucked, who's gonna miss that forty bucks or whatever once the opportunity has come and gone?

Silver lining: I saw Mission of Burma for free and they were absolutely brilliant. Bring on Husker Du.

My wife saw them recently and said they played a Mr Francis solo song, which to me is horse shit. Why not a Breeders song?

A while ago I read that the reason Kim sang lead on no songs past Surfer Rosa was because Francis wanted the Pixies to be trademarked with his voice.

You can have the Pixies. I haven't been able to listen to them in years. I hate when the ego of one member of a band ruins the whole band. .. . but then again, there may have never been a Breeders or the few great songs off the Amps album...

ok, enough of the fuckin pixies already.

I saw the sunday show   Whats to be expected they were playing like five shows in a row  Ya know you have to save up for the next show..............etc...etc...always saving up for the next one..Knowing this I felt the show was up to par.  As for the opening band.........wow.........wow........what a group of posers....Looking up at the stage I was sure they were all in different bands playing different songs.........no groove...I think my favorite part of the show was the opening bands lead singer...........jumping around on one foot   ..........maybe his other foot was hurt.....As for the sound at the arragon........hey thats what it sounds like in a nut shell....kind of the cavern effect.....

I saw Wednesday's show and it was fucking shazam. Allowing of course for the fantastic illustration of sound that is the Aragon, and it was fucking balls hot, and the one Miller Lite I drank (but didn't buy) gave me a ringing headache the next morning.

I have wanted to see the Pixies for 15 years. They did not disappoint.

I paid $20 for a hat. It is actually of excellent quality and fits my head naturally.

I paid $25 for a live recording of the show that I got exactly 22 minutes after they were done playing. It is of excellent quality, allowing for the same Aragon sound illustration mentioned above.

It was actually one of those fantastic concert experiences where the roar of the crowd transcends the cliche' sense becoming the true definition of the phrase.

Hmmm. I've now seen almost my full list of bands that I never thought that I could be able to see (or the closest equivalent possible).

Steely Dan, King Crimson, The (good) Beach Boys (a la Brian Wilson 1st solo tour), the Beatles (Paul last solo jaunt - excellent except for 85% of the Wings songs), Can (Damo w/ special guest Michael Karoli), The Fall, KISS.

Whoops, guess I still haven't seen Mission of Burma. Still a chance to see Slint. Now all I need is for Scratch Acid, Bastro and Bitch Magnet to tour.

Some of us never got to see them the first time around and are happy for the chance to.

Some of us saw them the first time around--and they sucked. I saw the Pixies at Pearl Street in Northampton in '89 or '90. I didn't really wanna go, even though I liked 'Surfer Rosa,' because tickets were fifteen dollars, about three times more than I was accustomed to paying back then. I should've went with my gut feeling because the Pixies played for 45 MINUTES, never broke a sweat, and obviously couldn't wait to get off that stage. Maybe they had their reasons, but they had enough energy to run off with all of our fucking money. If you ask me, they're always been greedy bastards. They charged too much then, and they're doing the same thing now. I'd rather listen to Devo anyway.
