alright, I need some untainted opinions.
my bandmate and I are having a disagreement about our newest song.
it's the first one on the myspace here.
One of us LOVES it wants it to be the first song on the CD wants to open with it, etc....one of us is of the opinion it's just ok and can't in any way see it being put into such a prominent role...
whatcha guys think? Who's right here?

Its a very cool song, but doesn't grab your attention enough for an opener, its more of a middle of album song i say, its really great though..

Early '80s speed metal taught me one important lesson: NEVER OPEN WITH A SLOW SONG.

This is a very good, slow, odd song that I like quite a bit. The ideal B-side or a song 4 position would do it justice. Bad opener though. "No Unrest" or "Doom and Gloom" would be better openers.

Reminds me of TV on the Radio and then goes into sounding like Primal Scream. Nice track actually.

'Bangkok' is a better song though. Actually, 'Doom & Gloom' is an opener for sure. I know this because I had that organ (?) motiff at the beginning bouncing around from when I heard it maybe a week back?

I'm going to start re-recording it soon. Those are cassette demos from many months ago, recorded onto cassette with a single Sony condenser microphone with selectable polar pattern. Omni directional, placed in the middle of two separate 1x12 Crate amplifiers. Crate 1 was a guitar amplifier running homemade "P"-bass, dirty channel. Crate 2 was a Roland TR-707 drum machine, set mid-heavy. All that went on track one, Conrad Dan Armstrong copy guitar with a single JB in the bridge through a Dean Markley practice amp (1x12) set with max treble and mid-gain.

I didn't even remember those songs until I found the tape, but I liked them upon second listen. So I think I'll probably fuck with them a bit and get the ball rolling on re-recording them plus some other old songs I found on tape that I like.
