Im thinking of building a Dietz style cab\putting new speakers in my bassman cab, so I started reading and looking for EVM15L, which everybody loves. the thing is, that I can't really find them, and I guess they're pricey. Instead of these, I've found EVM 15B, which are of the same series I guess.
What's the difference between the two? anyone used the evm 15b?

i think the 15B is intended for bass applications, so it probably has a slightly extended bass response.

thanks, I read somewhere that the evm is an instruments series, so I believe they're all for bass/instruments. but, if the evm 15b is for bass, what's the L for?
I also read somewhere(the same place where I read the above) that the b has -3dB at 40Hz while the L at 30hz. or some other frequency, but the l was the one with the more bass.

We REALLY need to have just one thread about these speakers/cabs...it's getting ridiculous. That being said...

Eliya, you've touched on the differences between these two actually...although I don't think that anyone really knows what the B and the L stand for anymore. The differences are in the frequency responses. The L is a true full range speaker, whereas the B series is specifically geared towards lower frequencies. So, basically if you take a look at the frequency response graphs (which I have) you'll see that the L drops off significantly around 55Hz or so, but it also has a much larger high frequency range.

The physical difference is that the L has "ribs" along the outer edge of the cone...which apparently is supposed to aid in the reproduction of high frequencies.

All of the EV documentation that I have list the TL606 cabinet as the cab to use for BOTH of these speakers.

The bottom line is that the L is an amazing full range speaker that can be used all by itself and still sound great. The B series would probably be good if you were running a bi-amp/multi-cab setup.

If you want to look at the response graphs, I could probably scan them in and post them.

Yeah, that'd be my guess. I mean, these speakers were never (at least initially) intended to be used as instrument speakers...so B for bass and L for lead just doesn't make any sense.
