Got the record today. Good album. Me like. It's Shellac.

...however, I'm not so sure that the Verizon slogan was such a catch phrase that it could be turned on it's head like that.

...but then again, I've been out of the country for quite some time, so I never really heard all those commercials with the guy walking around going "can you hear me now?" (which I always thought was dumb, because it implies the spot he just left was having reception trouble, and his mobile was a piece of garbage.)

...and just who is Mr. Albini's wireless carrier anyway?

That's Steve.

And ^that's^ embarrassing.

Well, you've only got 13 posts, you can just go ahead and create another ID and totally deny that it was you who mistook Steve for Bob doing Wallace Shawn.

...or, you can keep your ID, and always be remembered as "that guy".

Oh, and Steve V...

I read it up until the reviewer didn't know who Ken Nordine was. "maybe-movie announcers" ?!?!?!?wtf

I'm still not sure that I'm convinced that this record isn't some sort of ruse. The record plays as if they recorded it at a sleepover. -Less effort was definitely put into writing for this record. That, or they've lost their "cool." I feel like this is a test, for those that praise this record are not "true SHELLAC fans" and all the real ones are smirking behind their tea-cups. One thing I do know is that my expectations for SHELLAC have drastically changed.

It's official! my wife and I were driving around, looking at houses, and listening to E.I.G. and I got the old....."what is this shit?" "don't play that anymore." she didn't believe that it was SHELLAC.

Similar thing happened to me. I told my friend, who is a Shellac fan but who doesn't really keep up with them...i.e., talk about them constantly on the EA forums...but anyways...he goes and gets it, listens to it, and reports back to me through email.

"Dear Steve,

You owe me $15. I will expect payment shortly.

-Corey."

I reply:

"Dear Mr. Corey,

I must fill out a report for the complaint department. Please specify your reason for return.

With all due respect,
open yer fuckin' earsies,
Steve."

"Steve,

I do not pay $15 for shit. This is shit. I couldn't even make it through the first song. Then I flipped it over and it was the same thing.

Corey."

"Dear Corey,

Have you tried listening to it anything else on it?

~Steve."

"Steve-

Just did. You can keep your money. Not as good as At Action Park, but better than Terraform. Sounds really relaxed, like they didn't try really hard."

"Corey-

I think the effort is there, it is just not as spectacular or gripping as the other records. Still, I think their best songs are on this album. I'd give it a 9."

"Steve-

Didn't know you wrote for Pitchfork. Please repay me for all the CDS I bought when I was sixteen, based on your boss's website's shitty recommendations. Judgment Day is upon you."
