i don't follow this stuff that closely, but for every person that calls peak oil a hoax, you've got another person to refute them.

it seems like there are dozens of variations on the theory, but basically it says we're at or near the world's maximum production capacity, and that as the amount of barrells (supply) that can be produced every day declines, the price for a barrell of oil will skyrocket, pushing all distribution costs higher, so even necessities like food and milk will become much more expensive... leading to worldwide economic problems, anything from a recession to total collapse.

the theory nerbly bear brings up does seem overly sinister, but it makes alot of sense.

I couldn't give a damn either way but I'm familiar with the sensation of being so into a book that it clouds your judgement.

Have you actually read the book he is talking about? Have you followed up on these sources? For someone who claims to be apathetic about 9/11, you're very 'well informed.'

A couple questions -

Is Clocker Bob really gone? When I came back I thought it was a joke...then I looked for a post from him saying "I quit!" or some such...didn't find it, but maybe I missed it somehow.

Second, is it a coincidence that I returned right when Clocker Bob left? Am I part of some conspiracy?

(gee...I hope so!)

Oh, and one more question...

Could someone explain to me how both towers could be rigged with enough explosives to bring them both down, and nobody noticed? (For example, charges have to be placed right up against the steel girders, and that would require walls to be torn open in at least a couple hundred places).

It's all about fear and how it can be used to make a living. Don't matter which side uses it--right wing conspiracy nuts or left wing conspiracy nuts like CB, as long as either continues to promote fear, they will have a source of income or a way to gain attention--which is all they really want anyhow. It's not like anyone really tries to solve problems.

At this point, our country is circling the drain and there's nothing anyone is willing to sacrifice to turn it around. I'd rather worry about the things that affect me on a personal, daily basis than waste a single minute helping some attention whore sell his book.

I've now been pointed via PM to CB's bye-bye. Thanks for that.

To those giving 9/11 issues serious consideration...

Jumping from motivation to accusation ("X could gain by it, therefore X did it") is never a terribly strong argument.

I'd suggest looking at physical evidence, physics, and practical logistics, and ignoring for the moment "why therefore who" thinking.

If you do that (1) you will be much more scientific in your approach and (2) the "inside job conspiracy" will suddenly deflate to nothingness.
