debuting in '87 with a track on Mark E. Smith's Disparate Cognoscenti compilation,…a screeching, fiercely distorted deconstruction of metal…Sailing quickly into more experimental waters…to form the cacophonous eleven-headed monster (with two bassists, two drummers and two saxophonists) that God has essentially been ever since…full of clattering percussion, thunderous basses, hyper-distorted riffs and Martin's elephant-stampede saxophone and roaring vocals…The Anatomy of Addiction carries on in suitably anarchic fashion, an increasing influx of ambient and dub

Nice one, I saw God supporting Unsane umpteen years ago, tons of people (including Justin Broaderick) crammed onto stage.

It has been my benchmark for awesomeness ever since, they were fucking incredible: cyclopean slabs of undercurrent, squalling half-grasped snatches of tune/noise, man, they were great. Between them and Unsane I was thoroughly cabbaged that night.

top marks.
