Lisa Suckdog

I was thinking about how not crap that review she did of Jandek's "Somebody in the Snow" was: "LISA: This is one cover that makes me wish we had a stereo. Jandek looks really creepy with his Scandinavian colorlessness and big bent back."

She did have her art school performance art, smear poop on everything period but the last time I saw her (here in Chicago at Lounge Ax along with Miss Dame Darcy) it was so amazingly great, totally entertaining, and completely hysterical! Three thumbs up.

there's that one issue where she interviews tod ashley and asks him about his hair and why christina martinez is a bitch - and then her book dancing queen is just awesome too. then all her sex essays at nerve.com - rrrrow!

she gets a thumbs up from me.

wait though, i did buy a suckdog cd once and god did it suck. but the good things outweigh the bad.

I can't remember the circumstances, but I read a Suckdog/Costes tour diary once (maybe it was in Rollerderby), in which she described drinking no liquid other than whiskey for a few days. She described her urine as "a viscous and acrid ochre brine."

That is when I started to like her.

Speaking from memory, I may be accidentally embellishing, but I think she is a pretty good communicator of sometimes impossibly contradictory impulses.

Not so much with the music though.

I can't stand her "extreme" posturing, I'm tired of her sexual exploits, her music is barely that and as a writer, she's a great cartoonist. Crap.

Ooohhhhh, ANSWER ME! So daring and edgy...love those serial killer pics...and gee whiz, no misspellings..
