Five Albums...

15
Public Enemy - "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back"
Big Black - "Songs About Fucking"
R.E.M. - "Document"
Zoom - "Helium Octopede"
AC/DC - "Back In Black"

Hmm -- that's a pretty loud, angry island.

A good Prince record would be nice to have along as well. Maybe one of the first Velvets records, too. I also can't imagine never hearing Can, CCR, the Beach Boys, the Jackson 5, The Ramones (whom I once thought sucked), Johnny Cash or the Statler Brothers again. That's too many records, but fuck it. It's my island.

Five Albums...

17
LaMonte Young - The Well Tuned Piano
Bob Dylan - Nashville Skyline
Cecil Taylor - Unit Structures
Notorious B.I.G. - Ready to Die
Velvet Underground - Loaded

Thats of the top of my head, right this second... I am sure it would be different tomorrow, or even 5 minutes from now, but choices I could live with nonetheless.

Five Albums...

19
1. Homemade CDR of Gastr Del Sol's The Serpentine Similar and Camoufleur.
2. Rapeman - 2 Nuns + Budd (LP/EP combo CD)
3. Charlie Haden & Hank Jones - Steal Away
4. Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You
5. Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime

All of these albums have consistantly delivered the same impression, time after time.

Side notes:

1. "Even the Odd Orbit"

2. Every month (minimum) for 15 years. Amazon.com lists track 14 as "Dutch Orange."

3. Bass/piano duets - silken takes on traditional spirituals, as well as originals of the same ilk. Highly recommended

4. The first double LP of recent release that has prompted me to race to start each next side. Plus, it hasn't become overplayed yet.

5. The only double LP that just might never be overplayed, ever.

i'm the first to mention the beatles!? hmmm...

beatles (white album)

pixies - trompe le monde - because this is their best record, fuck you!

coltrane - a love supreme - i only 50% get coltrane, but i'd have all the time in the world.

ella fitzgerald - a good best of collection would suffice - a female voice would be crucial on such a list

weezer - blue album. the perfect fusion of rock and pop. my dancing naked under the stars record.
