14Jim White blew me away.
When we saw Big Star, Jody Stephens came out and soundchecked before the gig. He got a rapturous applause. For the soundcheck.
I always love seeing Robin Jones of The Beta Band/Aliens drum.
There was a terribly under-appreciated band called The Static Waves, now defunct, who had a phenomenal drummer. It makes me so sad that these guys didn't get heard by more people. For anyone interested, there's a good youtube vid of them playing one of their last shows here. Seriously, check out the motherfucker on the drums. Stick with it to the end. It would make me so happy if you did.

15Zach Hill from Hella. Also, Gregg Bendian with Nels Cline covering Interstellar Space Revisited.

17Robin Jones is a great shout. Definitely the best thing about the Beta Band live, though the House Song at the end was always a great team effort.

19this 16 year old kid from some no-name tech metal band in Nevada. he's probably 21 or so now, but he'd already been featured in some drummer magazine. his playing was in the vein of Dillinger Escape Plan, but more natural sounding. unreal.
wish i could remember the band name. it was a really generic hardcore name..

20i would like to second Zach Hill, but I also think Chris Corsano has definitely been the most unique to watch in his various projects.
Jim White and Jerry Fuchs are great, too.
Deerhoof's drummer...Boris' drummer...Chris Brokaw might be my favorite makes-it-all-look-so-effortless drummer...
