Yes this is looking kind of grim.

There has been a lot of promotion of the Bordoms show now and it is RSVP. I think in as much as it is now Tuesday and I have heard nothing from the folks that are organizing this show one way or another on my RSVP, that they are going to wait till the last minute (probibly so that the bordoms and others can get their guest lists in) and then give the remaining rsvps out (with 70 drummers I bet the list could be big.

So this is looking more and more like a private party faked out to look public using a public space, as well the promotion is so big (I have gotten numerious emails from different events groups about it) that I have a feeling that the neighborhood will be mobed by people who assume they can get in to the show or the neighboring park to hear it. Like part two of the open drummers call which now looks more like it was meant to drummers who play(ed) in well known new york art bands.

In short this seems like a private event that is takeing place in a public park that should make a nice video shoot for the DVD.

I wish I could get up in that tall building and look down on it cause it probibly will be the only easy way to get a for sure view.

Hey Marsup got your RSVP?

You will still be able to see it I am sure from the walkway of the brooklyn bridge or from the manhatten bridge park

It just pisses me off that they are not even doing auto replies to show you are on the lottery list. Or at least getting back with people 5 days before the show. The size of the park is such that they could have easly just done a first come first serve type of thing of course there is only a small area that will be able to see the show as the park is shaped like a pork chop.

I am sure the show will be awsome. Even more crowded than the anual hip hop festival or the shanghi crab festival which bring tens of thousands of people to the dumbo area to stand about.

I have a feeling this will be the first and last musical event in Empire State Park.

EDIT: I bet the permits for this show are not completely in place yet.

I imagine the rsvp thing is a technicality since they aren't selling tickets
I am not in the least bit concerned I will not get in
I will figure out a way if I have to, I promise

The RSVP thing relates to the number of people you can get into the tobacco building and the park under the insurance rider and the city permitt. Good luck trying to get in Marsup.

the southside of the park is protected 24/7 by police as it is also the entrance to the underside of the brooklyn bridge. there are no west side entrances due to the fact it faces the east river on the west and north sides there are 1 entrance each. the north entrance is usally locked and has 2 story + razor wire fenceing to the rocks of the east river. The River Street entrance has a line and both NYPD and private security so bring scuba gear as you will probibly swim for it, or have to get there early in the afternoon and hang hope to meet some folks you know that will let you stay when they clear the park.

You will still be able to hear it in fulton park and manhatten bridge park probibly

I was talking more like talking my way in than scaling fences and the like, or just walking right in, which works more often then you'd think
