Does exactly what you want. Had one for about 10 minutes; the bats complained.

it`s really waaay too trebly?
im considering one of those. apparently it sounds a bit like a strat pickup, it`s it?

It's really, really thin, but with pretty high output. I hated it. It's easily the trebliest (?) humbucker I've encountered.

I wanted it for the bridge position of my Yamaha semi because it's such a dark sounding guitar, but it was way too bright, even in that guitar. I swapped it for P90s in the end, much happier.

i also have a semi where i want a pickup there. also considering a p90 there. it is enough trebly anyways for like, indie-rock rythm guitar? what an awful expression, but i hope you understand with i mean.

I have P90s in both my guitars. I have Kent Armstrong humbucker-size in my semi and a Fralin 'steel pole' in the bridge of my mahogany strat. They both sound ace, for my needs at least.

They don't have the strict 'treble' (hi-fi treble) of the EJ custom (or perhaps a strat bridge pickup) but they have a load of upper-middle, and not so much flab at the bottom as a regular humbucker might have. Plenty of clank, not so much sizzzz.

I dunno. Without recording them direct and showing you a frequency analysis, I don't know how best to exactly describe the difference without resorting to 'clank' and 'flab' and 'sizzzz'!

I have to do some recoding over the next couple of days. If you can give me an example of 'indie-rock rhythm' guitar, I can post a short sample of the P90s in the semi.

hah, ok
from the top of my head:
- yo la tengo - tom courtenay
- anything from the wrens' meadowlands (i think the guitarist plays a reverend)
- sonic youth - dirty boots (or anything else actually, from the 86 onwards)

perhaps the best example is one of my tunes
(the sound is very crappy, but you might get the idea, specially in the chorus and the ending)

basically, thats the kind of distorted sound that i like. i play strummed, not powerd chords, lots of 7ths and 5ths and 9ths when possible.

now i feel like a fucking nerd. my apologies.
so yeah, i'm a pussy.

Back in my amp-modding days, I learned that you can change values on preamp capacitors in order to alter the basic tone of the circuit. Now, this is a 10-minute, $5.00 job. If you drop in some sort of switching, double that. Unfortunately, I can't offer more useful information...I've forgotten most of what I know on the subject. It's worth a look, though. I remember doing it to a Fender Bandmaster, and it sounded cool.

Cabinets with horns do wonders for 'sizzle'. I'm currently on the market for a full-range cabinet to add another layer of bright.

Not a pickup recommendation, but increasing the input impedance of the first thing your guitar plugs into is a good method of wringing out high end from whatever pickups you have.
Depending on your setup you can either mod your amp, have someone else mod your amp, or get a pedal like the Zvex Super Hard-On, which has an input impedance of 5 Meg Ohms.
