How does anyone think this band is crap? Unbelievably amazing, especially for Yank Crime.

I don't get what the big deal is.

I have Yank Crime. I don't like it very much.

There is no edge there for me. It just doesn't connect with me.

I've got no ill will towards the band, I just don't think it is very good.

Maybe its complicated or something, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me. If it did, I'd listen to Rush. A lot of musically simple records do a lot more for me.

If you want to kick my ass, that's fine. As long as you can find a way to do it over the internet.

Even if you think only a couple of their songs are "very good" then that's a decent return over only two albums, considering that some bands never even write one good song over the course of an entire career.

Personally, I think people who come along and say "Yeah, I don't like Drive Like Jehu" are kids who are trying to prove how against the grain they are, because really, we all know that Jehu were pretty phenomenal. Great band on album, great band live.

no, i think they are pretty mediocre, and 2-4 good songs is not a good return for two albums.

i think the word you were looking for is recalcitrant or contrary but "against the grain" works too.

I'll agree with you about Hot Snakes. But really if you put Jehu in context, they really stand out.

Perhaps the bass isn't prominent enough for you? This is rather a guitar oriented band.

In this case, I'm just saying the majority of Drive Like Jehu songs are excellent, and only a few of them qualify as "rubbish" (Jehu's rubbish being better than some other bands at their best.) Therefore NOT CRAP.

They're not my favourite band by a long shot, but they were very, very good.

Okay, i'm going to vote NC purely for the 'Hand Over Fist' 7" on Merge (I think?) Used to have both of the albums, but I cannot recall a single thing about either of them, other than that 'Yank Crime' came with a free 7", and had some longer than 'normal' songs which I enjoyed at the time.
