I love it. It's one of my favorite records. (In high school, I spent many wintery Minnesota mornings on my 45-minute bus ride listening to a cassette with "Tonight's The Night" on side A and "Nebraska" on side B.)

It's one of the best examples of a record with a specific occasion to it, a unified feeling, which is kind of a marvel considering the wide range of arrangements (solo piano/harmonica, quiet acoustic, full rock band, live song, etc.).

NOT CRAP!

Bit of a patience stretcher for me though. The title track is easily one of my favourite Neil songs. I think there's probably a better version of this record out there. I recall David Briggs saying as much. I much prefer the two records following this one.

Man, tommy. I know you're a big Neil fan, but a patience stretcher?? This record only gets better as it goes on. I could even play it for my relatives in Georgia on a hot summer day by the pool at a sweet mansion, and they never got tired of it (note: I don't think my cousin who just graduated from high school even knew who the Beatles we're until I gave him my burned split copy of Revolver/Sgt. Pepper's). It's so loose, so dark...I consider it to be his crowning achievement. I'm pretty sure that it's Neil's favorite record as well (I think I remember reading that in Shakey).

Salut, tequila!

Without this record, I don't think I would like On the Beach or Zuma nearly as much. These three records would stand up on their own, but feel lost to me without each other.

Gillian Welch and David Rawlings cover this one live, too.

Another record to keep an eye out for is Time Fades Away, which is out of print but not impossible to find.

Yes. Great, great album. It's insane that it's OOP, but I guess Neil is refusing to issue some of the stuff until he gets around to remastering it properly. Or something.

I thought it was that he hated Time Fades Away. If I'll recall, that whole tour was a miserable time for him.

"Don't Be Denied" is one of his finest songs.
