Recommend me some metal!

For Sodom, I'd recommend Agent Orange. This record contains some of the most bad-ass, ridiculously fast, riff-roaring thrash you'll ever hear.

Merciless Death is some fun new-age thrash made by younger guys.

I'd recommend Grief to anyone who likes doom.

Black metal is a fairly ridiculous genre but Bathory's self-titled (Under The Sign of The Black Mark also deserves a mention), Darkthrone's A Blaze In The Northern Sky, and Emperor's Equilibrium IX (Prometheus and Anthems To The Welkin are also great records) are all classics of the genre.

I'll second Carcass's Heartwork. This is melodic Death Metal perfection.

Spiritual Healing by Death is a favorite metal record of mine. Most everything by them is good.

Oddball grindcore: Gigantic Brain and (the Czech Republic's) Alienation Mental hit the spot for me.

I could recommend metal albums to people until... forever.

Since I've seen other people mention them, I'd run out to pick up Wolverine Blues by the Entombed. Wolverine concept record. Total crap idea on paper. Total not crap record. I'd also suggest the first down record. Pepper from COC, Phil from Pantera, and some of the guys from Crowbar. This record is heavier than finding out your mom has slept with Ron Jeremy.

St. Vitus/Obsessed. Sleep/High on Fire.

As for newer bands, I've got to say Cave In rock my world on a regular basis. It's like all of the potential metal has ever had came to fruition in a single band.

Trouble as well, if you like seventies rock leaning metal.

We have a cd ring going on another forum I frequent and I was thinking of going for a metal themed mix this time.

I'm thinking a mix of - Neurosis, Isis, Godflesh, Pelican, Ministry, Earth, Sunn O))), Lightning Bolt, Converge, Pitch Shifter (early), Scorn, Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Death, Entombed...

So what am I missing?
