My wife and my father-in-law also share Dec. 24th as their birthday - and I make it a point to have two separate gift-giving sessions, one on each day.

Andrew - you may have experienced the utterly horrible case where someone says, "Well, here's your present, and it's both your birthday and your Christmas present!!". I always try and prevent that happening to my beloved. It wouldn't happen if their birthday was in July, so why should it happen if it's in late December?

My girlfriend opens hers on the Eve, so that's when we do it. Then I get Christmas phase 2 the next day at the redline compound.
