There are temples built all over the world in honor of these wizards just packed with people every day crying and hooting and hollering about how much they love their wizard and how horrible their lives would be without this imaginary wizard looking out for them.
People get on their knees and pray to the wizard in the sky 'oh grand wizard in the sky please help me get that job'
Insanity, complete insanity.
They are killing each other and themselves every day over something that is absolutely absurd to anyone with half a brain.

seriously, if I was king, I'd round up all the abrahamists and give them a chance to renounce their religion. If they did, they get to go back to their life, if they don't, they all get sent to texas. I'll build a wall around texas, and remove all heavy weapons, but allow small arms in so that they can protect themselves from eachother.

its good to see you and I agree on Texas.

Which 'they' are you talking about?

As far as I understand it the things you are protesting about are culturally defined by the region Islam is practiced in.

In other words it is not Islam that says women should be oppressed (dependent on what you consider oppression)

I'm no expert but as far as i am aware the punishment for adultery is the same for both women and men and it doesn't involve stoning anyone to death. Just some harmless lashing or something.

All Muslims are supposed to pursue knowledge - women included

Female genital mutilation is a tribal tradition not an Islamic one

Divorce is more acceptable in Islam than Christianity

Women are advised to where a hijab in front of their husbands friends - a hijab is a head covering - not a full covering. They are advised to dress modestly - as are men

Pakistan had an elected female Prime Minister. (How many female Presidents of the United States have there been again?)

Anyway, I'm no expert so someone else can respond to you more effectively but suffice to say a little looking into it will show you that your view about Muslims is about as informed as a rank and file European's during the Middle Ages.

What was it you were saying again about Muslims wanting to drag everyone back into the stone age?

I think what he is trying to say here is that the fundamentalist muslims who brought Afghanistan and now Pakistan back to the fucking STONE AGE are wrong and he is just calling them out.

No he's not. He's saying all Muslims are just as fucked as the extremists because they don't criticise the fundamentalists to a level to his satisfaction.

He doesn't sound to me like he's criticising all religions equally. He's saying Islam is more backward.

Which is, again, amusingly ironic if you know a little history.

Let's not forget who assembled that dream team. We created an army of crazed holy warriors to fight a war on the cheap. We created it because it wasn't already there and presumably wouldn't soon be there without a little help.

God I hate when people do this, like the Saddam, Osama and taliban were robots created in some American laboratory
We sold them some guns and supported them when it was politically convenient for us to do so. That's it.
It's called politics, that's how the world runs.

It's no shock that the US or any other country has been involved in some shady political dealings at some point.

Not every problem on the planet is the fault of the US, you know.
It's not healthy to have that 'Well it's OUR fault!!!' attitude about every thing you know

Although feminism has a long and complex genesis, Courtly Love comes from the muslims in Spain.

During the hey day in the islamic empire, especially in spain, women were treated very well and were often deferred to.

You really can't discuss religion without acknowledging it's connection to cultural and political power. If a society is in power, generally it's citizens are afforded a more liberal lifestyle. when that society is under threat or perceived threat, the right wing aspects of that society become dominant.

Christianity and Judaism have a very similar history in regards to beating up on women.
