considering a change of amp

I may be wrong but I think Bob Mould used to use JC120's didn't he? I seem to remember reading that he used an MXR dist+ and a JC120.. but I could be wrong.. If you want a nice light amp that's not that loud then get maybe one of the vox solid state or tube pre models would do you alright I have a vox cambridge reverb that's doing me well at the mo for playing with a drummer or at home.. bit harsh maybe compared to my old selmer or even my H&H but it cuts through nicely. It was dirt cheap as well £55 I think, which i guess equates to about $100? Before that I had a pathfinder that was fine for mucking around at home but not loud enough to play with a drummer, and that was even cheaper.

I used a JC120 with an old Westbury Tube Distortion pedal. It sounded okay. I didn't like it enough though. It sounded pretty dry and lifeless to my ears. I started out playing tube amps and after the short fling with the Roland returned to them and never looked back. I just grew tired of the bland sound of it.

They usually sell for around $400 or less around Mpls.

In Hüsker Dü days, Bob Mould usually played Yamaha solid-state heads with an MXR Distortion +.
