OK I know you said 'no Hinduism' but seeing them right by an old synagogue in 'Jew Town' in Fort Cochin was pretty funny- especially as it was visited my an Israeli PM.
Other than that, there's an unfortunate piece of paving in Wimbledon outside the shopping mall- four dark lines intersect to form a very clear swastika. I think once they realised, the council slapped a bin on top of it.

An axe bundled with sticks and tied with a rope. It is an ancient Roman symbol and the root of the word "fascism". It represents strength through unity. The sticks by themselves break easily but bundled together they are strong.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

Here's an artist that uses them because it's an american indian symbol - here's one there are 4 parts to the interview I think.

Didn't say there was anything necessarily wrong with it. It's an ancient symbol that has been used in practically all cultures. It's just that the baggage it now carries because of the Nazis and WWII makes it seem to stick out when you come across it when it's been used as a decorative or religious symbol from an era before WWII. Nowadays it's very rare to come across it being used in a modern context as decoration or ornamenture due to this negative baggage.

36The RE/Search book Modern Primitives has a section devoted to this guy:

You're thinking of Zum Deutschen Eck.
Wasn't there a Reader story about Zum Deutschen Eck years ago, that accused the owners of being Neo-Nazis or something? I seem to remember that, and it wasn't much longer before the place closed its doors.
Holy shit, when I saw this pic, I almost did a spit-take. That woman looks just like my ex-girlfriend. Except that she'd never be posing with a Nazi cake. She was half-Jewish and hated Nazis.

39The Haus der Kunst in Munich boasts a huge mosaic made out of swastika's in the roof of its portal. Not surprising conidering it was built in the 1930's, but apparently no one ever cared to remove it, which struck me when I saw it.
