I like PJ's guitar playing too. She's vicious with a slide. I like her tone.

I've listened to her recordings several times wishing I could be the bass player instead of that lameass that played with her (sucky tone, crappy basslines, trebly top, no girth, lame..)

I have no problems with the drumming though, except the toms on "Rid of Me" are tuned a bit high for my tastes. That guy is a sick drummer even playing deathly slow..

Paul Westerberg. Not for any super technique, but for his cool tunings and completely different style of playing. See: 16 Blue, Answering Machine, Merry Go Round....all the way to his solo stuff where he tunes in 3rds: Let The Bad Times Roll, Dirty Diesel, etc.
Damned Fly - that was all Mick. The only time Bowie played electric guitar on his 'classic' records is Diamond Dogs.

I can definately say that the guitar riff on rebel rebel is all bowie.

He is underated.

Yeah, and Rebel Rebel is on Diamond Dogs.

And Bowie's guitar work on that album is excellent, unique.

Westerberg? Meh. Try Bob Stinson. He wasn't always "on", but when he was he fucking killed.

She does play a telecaster, but during the tours for Dry and Rid of me the only think I ever saw her play was a Gretsch. . . streamline nashville? Baldwin Broadcaster? Some sort of Gretsch. It was big, it was a kind of orangey red, and that was all she played and ran it through a Marshall or two.

Anyway, it wasn't until later that I saw her play anything else. And then I quit watching her play... but as a guitarist she's pretty swell.

I believe Diamond Dogs is the first album he actually played and wrote all of the guitar parts for, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Andy Kerr, from Nomeansno (Pre 0+2=1), and Tom, on all the albums after 0+2=1. Much like the ex, totally, out there yet restrained. (Plus, if my punk rock gossip is correct Andy Kerr did end up marrying Katrin Ex)

Can you really say that Nels Cline is underrated? don't get me wrong, I fucking love him, but god almighty, he's in Wilco now. It's like saying Marc Ribot's underrated. I think they're totally rated right where they should be. Brilliant Iconoclasts, of the '90's in both the jazz and Rock spectrums. Or maybe i just hang out with the right people.

By the by, will be posting some limited Nels CLine, Thurston Moore VERY soon.
