I had the occasion to see them a few times around thsi time period, and to visit with them a little before and after shows...they really seemed like they were just completely sick and tired fo each other at this point, and with good reason...lots of good reasons.

Not Crap. A favorite.

And I actually enjoy "World Class Listening Problem." More so than "For Respect." But the stuff in between (2, What Burns) has been the best. Still gotta get my hands on American Don, which I'm guessing is awesome as well.

A definite bonus has been their amazing cover (and other album) art. (Barring "For Respect" again.) I don't know who selects it, but it belongs in a gallery. I don't know if I'd say the same if they weren't paired with the music - they go hand in hand. I'm unfortunately without a turntable, but I'd buy the vinyl just to hang up the art. Like .. in the living room.

American Don is awesome, but most people will tell you it's not very good because it's not cool to like that LP.

I love everything the Don Caballero name has released, including World Class Listening problem, although it is an awful step down.

What Burns is probably in the top ten albums of the 90s for me. Not that I make up top ten records lists for each decade...I'm cool.

Why can't Che keep a band together? In the roughly 8 months since I saw them last, they're down to a trio with a different bass player.

This new trio is not good. Kind of a disgrace compared to the 99-2000ish trio.

The record is good, but I spent a good portion of the live show being embarrassed for them.

I saw the new Don Caballero last night for the first time and you sum up my thoughts exactly (except I've not even heard their record.) The show was completely uninspiring. The band could not have been less interested in what they were doing.

I'd feel embarassed for Damon Che if he didn't seem like such a cockbag of a person.
