To elaborate. It occurs to me that people listen to music for different reasons. There is no single 'correct' reason to enjoy music. I have recently come to the conclusion that my enjoyment of many artists has direct correlation to the amount of empathy I feel towards their music. This is presumably something that is the culmination of my entire life experience. Everything that has happened in my life has subconsciously made me this way about music. I could really not change this anymore than I could change which hand I favour to write with. That is - I probably could eventually but it would not be a process I feel like devoting so much time to. I'm fine with writing with my right hand.

The music of AC/DC seems to me to be very male. That isn't a criticism, just an observation or a gut reaction. Perversely I'm something of a misandrist and I tend to recoil from things I find to be very male. Again, I am this way because of twenty-three years of occurences that have gradually forced me to this position. Not suggesting this is healthy or correct. It's just the way things are. My entire life has pushed me into a position where I could never enjoy AC/DC.

Voting CRAP sort of does AC/DC an injustice because they are not a CRAP band. For what they do, they are perfect. They are a square peg that slides wonderfully into a square hole. I just have no use for this particular peg. I do not feel it is missing from my life. A more honest vote would be - as a rock band, they are fine. In terms of the amount of use I have for the music of AC/DC - none at all. Nothing in my life ever happens whereby the situation would be improved by an AC/DC soundtrack. When I briefly would have use for a party band, I had the Ramones. When I wanted music to soundtrack a road trip, I had Kyuss. Now there are no drunken parties and I am absolutely fine with that. I had a good run for me and three other people.

The argument that they are technically proficient (the Rush Defence) doesn't work for me either. I'm sure Steve Vai puts his fingers in some incredible places too, it just doesn't do anything for me. Likewise the fact that they are supposed to be an amusing band. I understand and I can see they make lots of jokes. In the same way that I appreciate that The Office or Larry the Cable Guy are supposed to be comedy, I sadly do not find them funny in the slightest. Thus, there is very little for me in AC/DC.

Thus, this is not CRAP to AC/DC fans. This CRAP represents that I cannot find a place in my life for AC/DC and the No Waffle Factor represents that I am completely okay with that. In the garbled words of Ray Smuckles, it is a problem I enjoy.

This is a good reason to not like AC/DC.

This is pretty much why my girlfriend does not like all that much.

On the flip side, this is pretty much why I'm not that into PJ Harvey.

Not Crap.

There have been many days in my life when I've woken up with this realization.

The main offender? Back in Black. I prefer Bon by a country mile, but what can I say?

'not liking ac/dc is like not liking the ramones'

'I think only The Fall come close.'

What is wrong with you people???

If you like the Ramones YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LIKE AC/DC

If you like the Fall YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LIKE AC/DC

This is the truth, the NME told me when I was a youth and I have found no reason to change my mind.

I like The Darkness better than AC/DC, at least they acknowledged they were crap metal wankers and laughed about it.

AC/DC = rock'n'roll axis of evil.

CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
