Jobs and Woz met because they were "Pheekers" that is they used a whistle to get to the free phone long distance att provided at the time. There were a whole group of people who figured out how to make the tone that took you to free long distance and this was a part of the tech community in the 70's. Woz talks about it alot in his lectures and how they got thousands of long distance for free.

I could understand where they would reward someone who did the same thing with the iphone.

You can change the sig, it just depends on how much of a prick you want to be.

The whistle is where the magazine 2600 got it's name, it was 2600hz which was the signal tone for a line not in use. You could do use it to make free long distance calls.

hacking an iphone is a tad more difficult. Not impossible though. Datasheets on the chips in the phone are freely available and somebody with knowledge in microprocessors and programming can hack it more methodically then a programming hacker could.

Cingular does suck.

Don't go with them.
