I've been going through my old rulebooks and manuals trying to figure out which edition I wanna play... I'm leaning toward the 1978 "Holmes" edition of the Basic rules with a tad of Advanced stuff thrown in to make it interesting... The simplicity of this edition is great and should make for a fun and efficient gaming experience.
As much as I love AD&D I think after all these years it'll end up a pretty slow and dull game trying constantly to reference arcane rules in the middle of play.
Would be fun to run the early B1, B2 Modules then move onto the A series... As I'm in no shape to be designing dungeons and shit at this stage in my life.
I guess this is all assuming I will be DMing... Which I hope not to. But I'm good and will do if nobody else wants to DM an original or 1st edition campaign...
I've been reading some good stuff here:
