As someone who used to be a record collecting dork (working at used record stores sure helped) you begin to relise that it's no differant than baseball cards, coins, beanie babies, or anything else. Some folks are into collecting shit, and some are not. Record collectors tend to think of themselves as "cooler" or "hipper" than let's say stamp collectors, but they are just kidding themselves. I have a bad collector bug in me. I have moved onto microphones and vintage guitar effects/synths.

i really don't think there's anything wrong with being a nerdy collector...i almost feel sorry for someone who isn't at least somewhat obsessive about SOMETHING...i agree that it's no hipper than stamp collecting, but i personally don't see anything un-hip about stamp collecting...it lays somewhat outside of my own personal obsessions, but i could respect a good stamp collecting...but i guess i always have some level of interest in things with a historical relationship...

OMIGOD!

The computer told me that the nice people at Amazon.com had "titles new and used from $33.98[!!!!!--Ed.]"

Just saw Sebadoh III for $5.99 used.

unfortunately you are in Colorado, and I am in Wisconsin.

no biggie; i suppose i'll find it one of these days.

there should be some sort of OOP police with a record label that reissues everything as soon as it goes out of print...of course that's fantasy-thinkin', but stuff shouldn't go out of print...it's totally lame...

isn't that what Rhykodisc [sp?] does? i know i've found reissues of Meat Puppets II and Vs. through them. i think they have a website or something, but i'm pretty sure that's what they specialize in.
if i got lasik surgery on one eye, i could wear a monacle.

there are quite a few record labels that rescue records from the depths of being out of print...but there's still so much work to be done...

...as fast as you can say "You're Living All Over Me" and "Bug."
