No shit.

In a few interviews, TJL allude to not being entirely satisfied with either the recordings or the process for the first few albums. In that dvd that's out now there's an interview at the end where Yow says that Down was finally an album where they got what they were looking for. I'm curious what the problem was as the earlier stuff sounds a lot better than Down.
I've seen the bridges burning in the night.

"South Mouth" off Goat has my all time favorite double Jesus Lizard vocals. There are two instances of David just snarling that ranks that song near the top of my Greatest Rock Songs Of All Time list (the very top of that list is, of course, "Nub").

In college I turned my best friend onto the Jesus Lizard by pointing out those snarls in that song some stoned night back in 1992 or 93. He was a total convert after that and went with me to every subsequent Jesus Lizard show.

That song still gives me the shivers.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

This post made me smile and shiver, because I have similar feelings about "South Mouth". Salut!

Alright,

Mr. King

Goat before all others. If you're not swayed by the first four tracks, then nothing on any other JL record is going to convert you. Down is a close second. I like Show a lot, not everyone does.

The JL represented an era and a genre in an unparalleled manner. If you dislike them, you pretty much have to dislike about fiftyother former and current bands as a result.

Lady Shoes is my favorite track off of Goat.

I've been listening to Liar a lot lately and whenever I hear Boilermaker kick right in at the beggining of the album, I want to crash my car out of pure joy.

I've been tryin' to find Down and Goat on vinyl but haven't had any luck. Would anyone care to rate Down compared to Liar (only because Goat is everyone's favorite)?

i prefer it to Liar. anyone else?

obviously Not Crap.

I do.

Seriously, I can't get over how great "One Evening," "Waxeater" and "If You Had Lips" are.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.
