I just bought a nice guitar from a pawn shop for next to nothing because a previous owner spilled house paint all over it. anyone one as to how I get the paint off and not hurt the finish or the wood too bad?

On the painted guitar.... What kind of guitar are we talking about? Acoustic or Electric. Solid body or hollow? Natural finish, painted, or some kind of stain? New or old?

My first thought is VERY fine steel wool (0000 grade or finer) and add LOTS of rubbing. In a circular motion!

If it's a solid body electric with a bolt-on neck I'd pull off the hardware and neck and either paint it again or strip it and start over. Just don't put any stripping agent on a plywood or laminate body. That 's a recipe for disaster.
