Between the ubiquitous and somehow variant use of awkward and random a high school kid can tell you a very long story and you'll not have the slightest idea of what happened. I suppose this is the nature of "young adults" but it's really fucking annoying.

I think both words facilitate the adolescent experience. They both work (well, not in my opinion) almost universally as a way to comment about something. Young people are great at talking constantly and saying nothing, and here we have two words that almost sound smart and can be used to vaguely describe almost anything.
