This whole Madeleine McCann thing...

Hmmm.... having read through all of these articles, I can only say that I am more confused than ever before, and, should the facts they relate be true, more suspicious of the McCanns and entourage than ever.

As far as I am aware, almost none of this has been reported in the British press - why not, I don't exactly understand.

The final article about Robert Murat was pretty terrifying. Poor guy. His being treated as a suspect and then demonised by the UK media seems to have had almost no basis whatsoever. I could only manage a dark laugh when reading Fiona Payne's (one of the group who were at dinner with the McCanns) rationale as to why he should be treated like a suspect:

“I’m certain it was him because he has a weird eye”.

Jesus.

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

I can't believe they're printing this shit about Murat:

Seven days later, following a search on his house – where they only found a vi-brator, batteries and a literary text on Casanova – the Public Ministery decides there are strong suspicions that Murat could be Maddie’s kidnapper. Gaynor Jesus, who is still working as Sky’s interpreter, is interviewed by Ian Woods and uses Robert’s blindness for a macabre portrait: “When we were kids, while playing, he had a glass eye that he would hold in his hand to scare us”.

For real? They can tell the world he has a vibrator in his house? That's fucked up right? And "ooh glass eye what a monster." Lame.

Contacted by Sol, members of the GNR who were on location on the night that Maddie disappeared guaranteed they didn’t see Murat at the time

Wait- Axl was there? Guess we got a real motherfuckin' suspect now!

whilst out at lunch i glimpsed on the front page of one of the Red Tops that today Murat is being taken off the suspects list.

I guess that the whole situation illustrates nicely just how fucked up the media has become. And now that Richard Branson and some other millionaires are throwing money at the McCanns to help them pay their legal fees, i'm guessing that even if the McCanns were responsible for killing Madeleine, they are going to have enough legal firepower to wiggle their way out of trouble...

Today's news from Portugal, not being reported here yet:

Jornal de Noticias

Caes cheiraram roupas dos amigos dos McCann

Serôdio, e Nuno Miguel Maia *, Correspondente em Londres

Dogs sniff clothes belonging to McCann's friends.

The two police dogs from South Yorkshire were in the houses of the seven McCann friends - the ones who spent their holidays with the McCanns at the Ocean Club, Praia da Luz, the week Madeleine disappeared. Eddie, (the dog) trained to detected cadaver odors and Keela who detects microscopic traces of blood, were taken to the residences of the three couples, and, according to what the JN has gathered, reacted when they smelt some items of clothing.

All the evidence collected, including what was on Kates clothes and also in the apartment where the little girl disappeared last May 3rd, is still being analysed at the forensic lab in Birmingham. A source from this lab told the JN that the tests have not yet been completed and refused to forecast a date when they will be given to the PJ.

While the results are awaited the official request documents from Portugal to England are almost done and should be sent this week. The purpose is to once more interview the seven English friends of the McCanns (three couples and a woman). It is hoped to break the groups “pact of silence” to find out what really happened.

Today's papers in the UK are saying that will there be no prosecution without a body, according to the chief prosecutor, but a Portuguese detective was interviewed last night saying they are quietly confident of the evidence. He said that there was previous case involving a priest who'd disposed of the body of a child that was never found in 1980, but that conviction relied on a confession. This maybe why the police are using the dogs to investigate the friend's houses, in order to spook them and get them to contradict the McCann's version of events. It also implies that the friends also have a lot to lose if things go against them.

Slowly, slowly catchy monkey.

Is the implication then that there is a cover-up involving the friends of the group? It seems truly remarkable if so, both that a group of friends could so swiftly embark on a program to hide a child's death and (more significantly?) that they should so gamble their futures on their non-existent (presumably) criminal acumen.

These are intelligent people, presumably broadly moral people (being doctors and all). It is hard to believe that such a group could be responsible, or at least would choose to be responsible. Even if they are (to a man/woman) entirely evil people, one would have thought that self-preservation would have prevented such an act, no?
