It gives me no more details.

It's hideously ugly, black and very heavy.

The bodyshape is foul. It may be called a Thunderbird, if I remember rightly. That's just something I'm associating with this foul shape (I don't know anything about guitars) - maybe I'm wrong.

It came with an original hard case, massive brown Gibson USA thing.

It's got loads of marks where it was covered in stickers - most of them have been peeled off, but the obligatory "Parental Advisory" one is still there.

What is it? Is it any good? How much is it worth?

I just effectively paid $40 for it so I'm not too bothered.

Seconded. Don't make the same mistake I did and just throw away the sticker once you get it off.

What would people recommend for cleaning sticker marks off, without damaging the surface? It appears to be a pretty hard plastic type surface... nail varnish?

I just did a google search for this bass and I found it retailing for up to £900.... crikey!

did Epiphone ever make any copies? Is there any way I can make sure it's for real?? It seems kosher - there's a serial number and all that. How can I trace the serial number? And is there any way of finding out how it was made?*

naptha will remove the stickers.

careful, not healthy to breathe or have it touch your skin. don't use acetone. that will dissolve the plastic.

epiphone makes thunderbirds too.

Paraffin can be good for removing sticker glue. Be careful as the paint on the Gibson guitars is cellulose and is delicate in some ways. Try whatever you use on the back first in case it goes wrong.

That bass might not be all that bad, but since they're valuable, you may as well sell if you don't fancy it.
