I miss 'em too. I attended every show they played in NYC from Vee Vee on and they were always brilliant. Possibly the only rock band I've ever seen that consistently performed every song at a slower tempo than the recorded version.
Go see Crooked Fingers. Eric Bachmann is a compelling live performer. He also just finished living in a van for a few months. Buy swag. I'd imagine he could use the scratch.

I miss Archers Of Loaf.

I found two mp3's on a blog for Meneguar. "The singer sounds like the guy from Hold Steady" was one description. I'm not sure whether thats good or bad yet. I wonder he sounds anything like the guy from Lifter Puller?*

*Yes, I know they're both Craig Finn, I was being stupid.

I've never listened to The Hold Steady except in other peoples' cars. They're okay, I guess. I've kind of thought of them more along the lines of "Hey, it's Mac from Superchunk singing for Archers Of Loaf!"
Motherfuckers Move Slow.

I miss Archers Of Loaf.

The first three albums are killer. Vee Vee is right near the top of my favorite rock records ever. Solid gold, man. I love how noisy their songs are while they still show pop sensibilities. One only got to see them live once, I was slain for certain.

In order of greatness:
1. Vee Vee
2. Icky Mettle
3. All the Nation's Airports
4. The Speed of Cattle (singles comp)
5. The G.O.A.T. (ep)
6. Vitus Tinnitus (Live Limited ed. 10")
7. White trash Heroes
8. Seconds Before the Accident

Sure, I miss them tons too, luckily Eric B has been steadily releasing great material with Crooked Fingers as well as solo. He also had much influence on one of my favorite records of last year; Micah P Hinson & The Opera Circuit.
What's a Little Reign?

I miss Archers Of Loaf.

I don't think he sounds like Craig Finn at all. I'd say thats lazy blog writing and a knowledge of music that doesn't extend past the last three years.
