Big muff used on bass

1
I'm curious about buying this pedal for bass. I'm looking for a pedal that would produce a slightly fuzzy and distorted sound. I don't want a pedal that makes my bass sound really harsh. Theres one used at a guitar store near my apartment so I could go try it out soon. If I do decide to purchase it sense it is used, should I look up what they normally get on e-bay and offer to pay around that price?

you can get big muffs from ebay waaay cheaper than in stores so get it there.

big muffs are ok for bass but lack the clarity that I like, even in guitar for that matter. the bass player in my band uses a rat (as do I) and it's fantastic for bass but may be a little harsher sounding than you like.

there's a thread in the tech room about bass distortion worth searching for...
I can't find it, kerble?

I use a Little Big Muff on mine.
It's fantastic for psych stuff or sludge.

I play through an Ampeg 6x10, which has a horn. Depending on how the much the horn is engaged (there is a control on the back of the cab) the Big Muff will essntially turn the on and off, so I can go from the normal bassy setting that I use to a really bright fuzziness.

LOTS of stuff about this is Tech Forum already, which is where this enquiry belongs. Do a search for bazz fuzz, bass distortion, distortion pedals and Big Muff and you'll have a full day's reading.
