The ninth track off of Diary.
I really think it might be my favorite song. Jeremy Enigk's vocals are emotionally charged in a genuine-sounding way that I find pretty atypical of the man.
Everything about it just comes together pretty perfectly.
I'm interested as to whether or not I'm the only one on the forum that finds himself taking the long way home just so I can listen to it a second time.

4I'm pretty sure that their lead singer converted after they recorded diary.
And all of their albums after that / his solo stuff was pretty shitty, anyway.

5My art teacher knew Jeremy Enigk in high school and still sees him on a pretty regular basis. Thats all I really know about them...

6aww man. I love his solo stuff.
"48" is an ok song, and Diary is an ok album. "Pillars" is probably my favorite Sunny Day song.
edit: whoops this isn't C/NC

Not sure of when he got born again or converted or whatever, but The Pink Album is really, really good too. That's the one that came out right after diary. All of their albums after that / his solo stuff were pretty shitty.
Edit: If you have that one check out Red Elephant. That's probably my favorite song from them.
Good Luck,

8I like a lot SDRE, but i prefer their followers Mineral. I think these groups wasn't making christian rock music, they uses refereces in the popular culture to religious concepts to develop the lyric, in my language this is a resource very found in songs. Mineral; in my adolescence i was supported by their two lps; "End serenading" and "the power of failing". sublime. When they broke, the new singer project; the gloria record sounds me too emo, and i discovered their drummers awesome new band "Pop unknown", and side projects "Imbroco" with Rory Phillips etc. Jeremy Engik is now making good music, but now i listen cryless music.
My favourite songs: 45 / 47, In circles and Rodeo Jones.

9I think none of their studio albums is as good as their live recording (I think it's just called "SDRE Live"). This album is awesome.

I totally agree with you: I don't like 99% of emo stuff but what SDRE and Enigk made in the 90's was different and this particular song is still in my top 10 though I'm no more a teenager (I hate their last LP as it sounds like Creed or another piece of shit like that).
