Marsup, in my experience, you can continue to get "free" advice as you've already done via sympathetic nurses. I've even managed to score both antibiotics and other meds from older doctors.

But I really wouldn't fuck around with a second-degree burn. I had second and third degree burns as a kid and I remember there was a lot of worrying about infection and debilitating scarring (I couldn't move my leg for two weeks and had to go through physical therapy for it). If you're going to go without proper treatment, do as much reading as possible. And go to a medical supply store and make sure you change the dressing once or twice a day.

There was a BUNCH of weird shit I had to do for weeks and weeks to make sure everything healed correctly and without infection (including massively painful scrubbing with Dial anti-bacterial and two other substances...maybe iodine). I remember it kept growing this yellowy pus-like film that had to be removed every afternoon then covered over in fresh dressings.

If you know someone, anyone, with money...I think now is the time to ask for a loan. Fuck, just send them a picture of your hand.

And yes, I think a "board pool" isn't a bad idea. I can spare a few bucks.

All the best Mister.

Seconded. I fell down a flight of stairs when I was drunk and scraped my face quite badly, but the sudocrem helped it heal in about a week. It's pretty cheap, too. Just don't be put off by the fact that it says on the label that it's for bed sores.

Thirded. Sudocrem is also the treatment of choice for kilt rash and swamp butt.
