Should I Buy a Mac?

i've been a crossplatform guy for the last fourteen or so years. pc at work, mac at home. i enjoy my time on the mac more than my time on the pc but have never run into more problems on one than the other.

these days -- with the exception of games -- there's not a lot of difference between the two, to the extent that i'm running windows xp on my mac right now (at least on one of my screens).

i love my mac because it's a mean fucking powerful computer - 8gb ram, 3.5 terabytes of storage, 2 3ghz dual core processors, the works. put the same specs in a pc and i would not love it as much.

when all is said and done, i just prefer the mac. i like the design, i like the brushed aluminum, i like the interface, and i like the software. even though i could probably get the same quality and quantity of work out of a pc.

I dont really agree that macs are that good, i would definately go for a PC...

I had that same problem with the fan and it was so annoying.... but it ended up just being to much dust in the fan, i washed it and it was fine, maybe u should try cleaning out your computer before going out and spending a bunch of money
Lets play some D&D!!!!

I'm posting from a MacBook with a nice hi-def screen. I use it to make music and take notes in class. Sometimes I watch movies or Mr. Show seasons. It performs this job well.

Earlier I was posting from a PC. It can run Sid Meier's Pirates!

This is all I need from either machine. Both do their job. I prefer making music with the MacBook, but that is a personal preference.

If you are doing video and music and don't know what you should get, I'd say get a Mac. It comes with music, video, and DVD software of moderate power included. You can use those immediately, and then buy more sophisticated software *if* it becomes clear that you really need it. An iMac will likely do everything you need.

Macs are generally very good. Not Rev A macs. Not entry level Macs. Mid-level and Pro level Macs are great, and they have an unbelievable resale value after three years..

The OS is good, it cleans the floor with XP and Vista. Fuck Vista.

The apps I need the most run on Mac. They don't run on PC- or they don't run as well as they do on my Mac. Examples: Final Cut Pro Studio, Soundtrack, Logic 8, Live, Aperture and oh, Terminal.

And no, Cubase and Pinnacle DV are NOT better.

If you are a gamer or a number cruncher, don't get a Mac. Office runs only adequately on a Mac.

I've used nearly every model of production HP Desktop, IBM Laptop and Apple the past 4 years working in IT. Hands down, the Apples are better.
