2This is a very nice read, thanks for posting
Here's hoping that both business and this 'ideological' side of CMS will be successful!

3Sounds like a pretty bitchin' place.
Kudos to Bob and Jason!
Some interesting points regarding mastering to vinyl from digital sources:
So can the Chicago Mastering Service computers handle 192kHz files?
I can't imagine that it's all that common.

5"I’m still going to do the jazz recording I’ve been doing for the past few years. It’s really fun and rewarding. Live to multi-track, everybody in the same room, no headphones, no overdubs. Lots of problem solving in the set-up. Then the recording and mixing are very straightforward and fast. It feels more like how we’d make indie-rock records 15 years ago before the protools invasion."
I'd love to read a whole interview on this topic. (What jazz recording?)
This makes me think of the photo of Bob fiddling with a tape machine in a Polvo album, with a cat on his shoulder... Or am I making that up?

Not making it up, regarding the cat.
Over the past few years I've recorded a bunch of jazz records for bands on Okkadisk, Atavistic, and others. Some bands: Vandermark 5, Tripleplay, FME, Territory Band, Peter Brotzman Chicago Tentet, Powerhouse Sound, Spaceways, Inc, Zu, Atomic School Days, Bridge 61, and some others I can't think of.
