All this hatred of McCarver got me thinking. I would rather listen to his lunacy than the steroid apologist Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on ESPN. Every time I hear Miller I have to yell "fuck you" at the radio/TV. He's a good play-by-play guy, but listening to him call Giants games on ESPN this year and pretend like there should be no reason why the majority of baseball fans hate Barry Bonds is insanity. He's the Dana Perino of MLB. At least with McCarver, you get Joe Buck. And finally Fox seems to have gotten wise and limited the minutes of that horse-faced twat Jeanie Zelasko. I still hate her for cutting off Ernie Harwell at the 2005 All Star Game.

Absolutely as good a reason as any to root for Boston.

Yeah.

I was all set to root for the Rockies, but this God shit has ruined it for me.

I am an interested but neutral observer.

Who to sit?

Can't sit Lowell--trading a very good 3B for someone who doesn't really play the position doesn't work.

Trading a good defensive 1B for a below-average defensive 1B is much less of a problem, even if the latter guy has a bad wheel.

Therefore, I think they need to go off the starting pitchers.

Youkilis hits lefties and righties almost equivalently well.

Ortiz destroys righties and is just real good against lefties. But he's a lot better at Fenway, as well.

Hmmmm...

Dice-K is a strikeout pitcher, so fewer fielding opps for 1B, with Fogg (a righty) going for Colorado. I would start Ortiz in game 3. Can always put Youkilis in if Colorado has to go to Affeldt or Morales in long relief, or if they go to Fuentes in a key spot.

Lester lets guys put the ball in play. Cook (righty) is penciled in for Colorado. If Ortiz seems truly compromised at 1B (or just doesn't hit well) in a Boston loss in game 3, then I start Youkilis in game 4. If Boston wins game 3, I probably start Ortiz regardless.

If there's a game 5, Francis is starting, and I start Youkilis.

I'm hoping that somehow with no casualties what so ever, that this world series will be canceled.

But I just realized that if there is a god, it is a malevolent god, because I just heard on the office sound system (kcrw internet radio?) a remix of "Have you ever seen the rain?"

We're in trouble people. Big trouble.
