yeah...this thread is too long to read the whole thing, so if anyone mentioned this yet, sorry: allagash curieux, a bourbon-barrel-aged american tripel that is possibly the most edifying beer i have ever had...tastes sort of like a tripel boilermaker (this description coming from an avid fan and drinker of boilermakers).

a great beer, and if bottles exist, ideal for cellaring at around 11 percent alcohol.

I recently had the pleasure of trying Goose Island's new Harvest Ale. It's a really nicely balanced American version of a classic English ESB.

This extremely rare bottle of authentic vintage 154-year-old IPA was sold at auction on Ebay. Unfortunately for the seller, he misspelled the name in the auction title.



It was bought and re-sold by another shrewd Ebayer at a tidy profit.

What's the value of the letter "P"?

I'm a bit of a sucker for the pale and tart brews out there.
Two nights ago I came across my first really enjoyable American beer, at a hangi. I've never really doubted that good American beer exists, but I figured it'd never be a mainstream brew that stood a chance of ending up in the fridge at my local bottle shop.
The problem is I had such a good time that I've totally forgotten what this beer was called, and I'd love to be able to track some more down from a local wholesaler. This beer was fairly distinctive, it's a novelty beer to be sure, but a crapload of fun -
It had a whole chilli in it, was brewed in Arizona, and came in a clear bottle with a mostly clear plastic lable on it. It had a clear, mid-ale orangy-red colour, and went stunningly well with a plate of raw oysters, kina, kumara and chicken.

Anyone on here know what this stuff is called?

Hey, speaking of hoppy as hell beers...

There is this rumor that Hazed & Infused has weed in it. It's sort of a joke, but apparently when the guy finishes a batch, he kicks everybody out and is totally vehement about it.

I'll be in Chicago for a week next summer, hopefully. I am taking requests.

I think at this point, Breckenridge Brewery is the only CO brewery I've tried that is cranking out total shit. Be proud, Centennials!

Crap, I wish I would have known this before picking up some Breck. Brew. It does really suck shit! I work pretty close to the Boulder Brewery, but never had any of their 'product.'

Cooper's is the shit.
I've two of them.
One with a yellow label (stout) and a pale ale (red label).

Pale has a green label.

What has a red label then?

Sparkling, I think.

Pale = Green, Stout = Yellow, Sparkling = Red, Dark Ale = Brown, Lager = Green / Red. And for the outdoor festivals, Dr. Tims, which is a shit-tasting Cooper's Pale Ale in a can.

Dark Ale is amazing.

I like how because the beer is so yeast-y, Cooper's is often referred to as "thrush in a bottle".

Southern Tier make great beer.
I've had their Harvest which was amazingingly tasty.
Their IPA is pretty good too.

Holy shit. That may have been the best beer I've ever had. I can't tell, because I'm kind of fucked up off it's 20% alcohol level. And the $10 I spent on a 12oz bottle of beer.

But - god help me - it was worth it. That was really, really nice.
