I enjoy H.Bosch as much as King Phillip of Spain.
I just don't have his kind of capital.
Not Crap.

12This may have been what I was thinking about when I said the Pieter Breugel canvas looked familiar, as if I'd seen it on another thread.
The style is somewhat similar, although it is obviously much more fantastical.
The Bosch style, that is.

13He has the best first name of any artist I've ever heard of.
Oh, and he's responsible for some absolutely exquisite works.

And "Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch" is a good Henry Miller book.

15very not crap
its funny, many of his paintings depict some large scale disaster or aggregate of disasters, but on the other side he did do a painting of utopia.

If I remember correctly, Bruegel worked some 50 -60 years after Bosch, and much of his early work was in the vein of Bosch imitators. Bruegel developed into his own unique person later creating imaginative paintings without ghoulies in them.
I think this should be a thunderdome between the two.

in such a thunderdome, i would probably not be able to decide. man, i've been able to decide in every music thunderdome that i ever thought was worth voting in. but this one could go either way for me, with a waffle factor through the roof.

19Yes, they have two very similar, and yet still unique, styles. I don't think I could pick one over the other in a thunderdome.

20What bums me out about Bosch is that we'll never know exactly how amazing his body of work really was, since a lot of it has been lost to overzealous housecleanings and whatnot.
A lot of his works were originally triptychs, or at least this is what I remember reading in art history class.
