Does anyone else have a hard time coming up with song titles for their ditties. It seems I always have a bit of a block when it comes to titling my songs. I only write instrumental stuff and since there are no vocals to associate with it takes me forever to settle on / come up with a title.

Our new record, which we are about to start recording this evening, will be titled "Those Who Wonder Will Reign" For the life of me i cant come up with associative song titles to this theme.

I don't like names in instrumental tracks at all. they can turn out being very pretentious. ie: explosions in the sky's song titles. eww.

I agree. I tend to favor the ridiculous titles like the ones often used by Don Cab. "Delivering the groceries at 136 bpm" and "You drink way to much coffee for a teenager" being some of my favorites. I dont like the idea of leaving the tracks untitled

"This song is untitled cause you haven't named it yet"--?Add expletive

It's fun naming songs without having to worry about lyrics...

I play in an instrumental band.

We have song titles like:

You've Reached a Lion, So leave a Message

and

Pencil Break.

"I've got a few words for Fugazi"

I think copping song titles that have already been used is a great way around this dilemma.

The nine songs on Police Teeth's third record, Bleach, have been titled titled as follows:

1). Slow Ride
2). Cat Scratch Fever
3). School's Out
4). Taking Care of Business
5). When the Levee Breaks
6). Panama
7). Gimme Three Steps
8). Cheap Sunglasses
9). Cinnamon Girl

Easy. All we have to do is write the songs.

We used to play with an instrumental band, and they just named their songs numerically in the order they were written. They would introduce them as "This next one's an older song, it's called Three".

Plus they were bowel-looseningly loud.
