Band: Explosions In The Sky
132Me too. Still love the second and third albums, still vote NC.yaphet wrote:Talk about a band with absolutely nothing new to offer album after album. Hell, I still don't know which album was their first and which was their last based on sound.
Most bands, you can hear some sort of progression as they age. They sound tighter, slight song writing changes, etc etc.
Used to like them, got really bored, really, really quick.

135Not crap! WF: low
Some very nice musical moments. The guitar lines for "The Only Moment We're Alone" and "Your Hand in Mind" are in my opinion, some of the most beautiful of any instrumental Slint-esque type band. They also seem to believe in what they are doing and to be genuine people.
I really enjoyed the "Friday Night Lights" soundtrack, but the newest album seems to show little growth in any positive direction and showcases many of the limitations of their sound.

136Saw them for the first time last night. I went there with little expectation since the last album sucked so bad. But hell, they were good, and loud.
Awesome live. Not crap.

137I can go either way. (insert joke)
Saw them last weekend, cold, with little to no knowledge of their work.
Seems like the merit in the music is the crescendo.
If the songs didn't build in energy there'd be no point.
Which makes half the song a little bit boring.
Preemptory non crap till I hear more of them.
