I had a couple of Cactus albums back in Jr. High and remember digging them a lot. I probably liked them 'cos no one else had heard of them, though.

I didn't know some of that back story about Beck, though I knew he played with Bogert and Carmine. I probably read about these guys back in the old Circus magazine, since that was my source for rock news in the early 70's. They didn't survive the move-to-college-and-purge-the old-uncool-records period, though I'd give 'em a spin now if I had 'em. Ah, the old days.

Their version of "Parchman Farm" off the first record is pretty good. Everything else I've heard has been pretty bland. Their guitarist used an Ampeg Scrambler on that record, i think.
