I don't think you're being very fair, she wasn't an ugly woman. That picture, deliberately picked, doesn't really do any justice with the wrinkled eyes showing and the thinned cheeks with cheekbones sticking out.

Not really my cup of tea, although I could have maybe gone for her when she was younger (i.e. pre-marriage) with a little puppy fat rounding out the cheeks and the overt coyness.

I've no doubt that had she never met Charlie, she could have been a supermodel and fitted in with the rest quite easily - but then, I don't find any of them attractive either.
